Act, rules and forms

As Canada’s highest court, the Supreme Court of Canada hears appeals from federal and provincial appellate courts. It, therefore, has jurisdiction over disputes in all areas of the law, including constitutional law, administrative law, criminal law and private law. Its jurisdiction is derived mainly from the Supreme Court Act, as well as from a few other Acts of Parliament, such as the Criminal Code. The Rules of the Supreme Court of Canada set out the procedures for conducting a proceeding in the Court.
